A piano teacher must be a well motivated person, apart from having the knowledge of the job; this is a very key issue that he must work upon always if he wants to remain in line. Sometimes, the issues of life can lead to a life of low morale which the teacher has to shake off, maybe with a refresher course, or just a visit to a teacher to rub mind with. There should be a good music that can get you up, since that is what you do too, do not hesitate to use it. Even though you teach music you must listen to it, and often too, sometimes we only listen to the music played by our students as they learn o the piano, maybe for week long, this will not give us the experience we desire and definitely will not help.
Constant listening to masterworks from others is a good step in getting motivated and learning new things which you would not have imagined you could get; this is good as a teacher as your students can also benefit from it. As a matter of fact several others reasons can cause burnout in a piano teacher, some of them very remote and peculiar to individuals. One of the major point we have to mentioned here anyway is that of the student that we teacher, more often than not they cause piano teachers serious headache because they remain non teachable despite all efforts to help them learn. Setting a standard within which you are to work is a must if you will have to overcome a problem like this, students tends to do whatever they like when they are given the opportunity prevent this at all cost. We should not discourage those that seem not to be talented in music when they approach us for coaching.
Each student has his or he peculiar needs that must be catered for, for such a student to learn effectively, the teacher must address this as much as possible if he want the students to learn fast. Looking at the attitude of students and their responses in your class will help you determine whether they are enjoying your class or not, if you find out that they are not, then change your method. If the students understood what he is expected to do and experience at the beginning of the lesson, he will accept it and prepare himself towards that and settle on for the lesson without expecting any surprises from the teacher.
To ensure this, firstly you must have passion for music, and have the right attitude towards it as part of life which everybody must benefit from to make our society better and to help people realize their dreams about life generally.
Always go for the best, both for yourself and for your students. This will not only ensure that they will grow to be the best in the field of the music, they will learn to enjoy the life that music presents and help others to appreciate it too. It is an atmosphere of standards that helps young people to learn effectively just as it happens to the adult.
The standards that you set must be well spelt out to te students from the beginning to help them grow along with it. Your prospective students should be made to know about information like fees payment class behavior, required standards for admission, etc through forums like adverts and printed brochures. Do not hide any information especially about fees, from people; it will not help you at the end.
