Discovering The Best LA Cover Bands

By Stacey Burt

Cubensis, is one of several award-winning musical groups in Los Angeles. While considered both cover and tribute band, Cubensis pays homage to the best of the Grateful Dead. Other LA Cover bands in the area include those covering everything from Black Sabbath to the Grateful Dead. While some of these groups like to stay local, others like to tour nationally and internationally.

While many of these bands play songs from a number of different famous acts, either from a group, era, or region, tribute bands often play entire albums, and full live shows at clubs and other venues. Just a few of these notable acts include Dark Star Orchestra, Lez Zeppelin, Pink Voyd and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's.

Dark Star plays full shows from the Grateful Dead's Deadbase, Lez Zeppelin, an all female Led Zeppelin cover band plays both full shows, and favorite songs from the bands' repertoire, Pink Voyd provides more of a "concert going" experience by creating theatrical reproductions of past Pink Floyd concerts. While, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, a well known Beatles cover band provides more of an impersonation when it comes to the group's presentation and musical styling.

Whether desiring to book a band like Cubensis, or others, booking information can often be found either on the homepage of the band, or on a number of YouTube videos. When looking to book a national or international act, it is often best to do so as far in advance as possible. Whereas, while this is a good idea with local acts as well, most often local acts are going to have more availability than national or international ones.

Those desiring to hire live entertainment may want to realize that a smaller line-up that plays a variety of music, is often less expensive than a tribute. Generally, this is because of the additional expense involved in setting up a big stage, or concert like performance. One of the best at doing concert like theater productions is that of Pink Voyd, a Pink Floyd Cover group out of Boston, Massachusetts.

When most people think of groups which play covers, it does not always mean the band is dedicated to playing songs by only one group. In fact, most of these groups play a wide variety of music from different bands and eras. As such, there is generally one which can appeal to at least one individual and demographic.

There are cover and tribute bands which are almost as popular as their original counterparts, and those, which still work for tips. Some have the capacity to present full on rock concerts, while others still play in coffee houses and church basements. Regardless, fans of any big name act with a tribute band are going to attend regardless of the venue.

Living and working in Los Angeles, can often be a challenge. Doing so is especially hard for up and coming musicians. These listing services can provide a great deal of work to those whom need it most. All one needs is for someone looking for live entertainment to make the first move.
