Christina Kelly: The Do's & Don'ts Of Fashion Design

By Rebecca Mills

Christina Kelly, as well as others, understand the importance of fashion design. Without this, it's nearly impossible for different attires to be created, each one with specific tastes in mind. However, those who are considered enthusiasts in this field should be aware of some of the critical do's and don'ts. By adhering to the following points, the enthusiasts in question can go on to create new apparel, resulting in success for themselves and trends for the public at large.

Do try to be creative. It might go without saying, but the ones who succeed in fashion design the most are those who are creative. The likes of Christina Kelly can say the same, even if certain concepts do not pan out as well as expected. By simply taking risks, aspiring designers are able to create new ideas that will, hopefully, prove to be more successful. You will not be able to find such success, though, without taking few risks.

Don't be overly complicated. Another thing to know about fashion design, at least when it comes to casual wear, is that simplicity matters. As the likes of Christina Kelly will tell you, the best attires are those that compile a number of elements, without going overboard. When there is too much happening at once, chances are that it will overwhelm the senses. Anyone who is passionate about fashion design would be wise to keep this in mind.

Do read up on popular trends. While creativity is essential, as mentioned earlier, what's currently popular must be taken into account as well. Some trends will pass along quicker than others, but this doesn't change the fact that staying current plays into fashion design efforts. For this reason, enthusiasts must be able to read up and do their homework on the matter. Without question, this is another great way to yield results.

Don't miss out on creating a portfolio. The more time that you spend in fashion design, the more work that you'll have to show for it. With this in mind, do not be shy about including this type of work in a portfolio. The reason for this is that employers are going to want an impression of what you're capable of. As a result, you should try to include everything from rough drafts to completed work. Without a strong portfolio - and names such as Christina Kelly can say the same - you won't garner as much attention.
