When it comes to the salaries for these positions, a composer or director almost always makes more than a teacher or instructor.

As the median wage for these type teachers is only $35,500 per year, students often spend a great deal more money than one can earn in return. Although, if the love of teaching leads students into positions of composers or directors, these individuals are often going to make closer to $50,000. As such, those teaching often feel greatly rewarded when a student becomes a success in these areas.
