Show Off Curves With Fashionable Plus Size Dresses

By Carl Harris

When it comes to having a versatile wardrobe, something that is practical that can be worn at almost any occasion is the way to go. Ideal pieces may be a nice button down shirt that is easy to care for, or a pair of pants that are slimming. However, fashionable plus size dresses are often an underrated must for any closet.

One reason these are often overlooked is the fact that some people think that one size fits all. Meaning that if a person wears different sizes for each region of their body, they may feel that a skirt is the way to go. Designers of today recognize that not everyone is made the same, so there is a dress for every shape.

Dresses of today come in a variety of styles meant to complement the feminine physique and sometimes, conceal problem areas. Women who are larger below the waistline will find styles that give more of a balanced silhouette. At the same time, there are styles that downplay features like a heavy top.

There was also once a time when plus sized clothing was made for a woman of average height but this has changed for the better, as well. Clothing manufacturers have finally realized that females come in various sizes and want something that fits right off the rack. This means women who are tall or short will have more to choose from and not have to worry about getting it professionally altered.

Dresses are also made from materials that look good and are easy to care for. Microfiber materials can have a silky look and feel but provide enough support to slim waistlines. Other synthetic blends, especially those made with spandex can give one confidence when they find themselves between dress sizes.

There was once a time when fuller dress styles came and went with a certain decade but, today that has changed. Designers find new ways to introduce retro styles to new customers and these tend to stay on shelves longer than before. One example of this was the pencil style dresses and skirts, which tend to be slimming and can be worn many ways.

Besides the cut of the dress, designers are becoming more aware which colors and textile patterns complement fuller sizes. Ages ago, either black, dark blue or earth tones were the safest choices for a woman of size because they did not want to stand out. However, the growing size empowerment movement has given women all over the confidence to wear bright, bold colors that can be accessorized.

One popular choice for women of all sizes is to wear a simple cut dress in a dark or neutral color and wear an assortment of bold jewelry. A safe choice for after hours is an assortment of pearl strands worn alone with a dark dress. Those who want to take attention away from their top may go with large or dangling earring with a matching bracelet.

There are many benefits to having at least a couple of dresses in the closet, as maintenance is minimal and they can be flattering. Those made from lightweight fabrics are ideal for wash and wear and can be a nice change from wearing a two piece outfit. Larger sizes have the right to variety like anyone else.
