Things To Keep In Mind When Going For Quilt Displays

By Ericka Marsh

Not all of us may be born artists. But we all have our own way of expressing ourselves. Some find writing a good way to do it. Others go for drawing. Whatever you choose, the end result of the thing that you do will always be yours. Its something for you to keep.

Your creativity is the main power hub in term of this. And there are a lot of beautiful things that you can make if you only put your heart at it. For quilters, nothing would seem like a rewarding thing to do than having quilt displays on some of the best places that they have at home. Being able to see their creation every time they pass by the place can be a real treat.

Of course, there are some limits that one has to make when it comes to displaying the quilts. Its delicate and should therefore be taken care of well if you want it to last long. If you decide on trying this out, then here are some tips that can help you keep your material on its best quality.

Find a good place with less traffic. This means looking out for those places which are not always frequented by people. While its good to show them of the nice quilts that you have in store, you do not want them destroying it. Also, the more exposed it is, the higher the tendency for it to attract dirt, which can in turn destroy the fabric.

Absence of kids and pets. Of course, you cannot totally hide the quilt from them if you plan on displaying it. But you can at least do something to make sure that they do not get to play with it as well. Little kids love colors and play and they have the tendency to get their hands on to anything that look flashy. To prevent them from ruining anything, its best if you keep the finished product away from their prying hands.

Right illumination. The right touch of light can make or break the appeal of the quilt. If the place is dark for instance, then putting some light on at the corners of the room or any other area may be a good idea.

Display style. Next thing that you have to think about would be the method that you will employ once you put up the quilt. Would you like to hang it or will laying it down at a flat surface be better. Of course, this is also dependent with the place that you chose.

Find high quality accessory materials for support. Last but not the least, choose high quality accessories that you want to use. This can include the hanger, the back board, clips and all other things that you will be using for the display. Aside from the issue of durability, you should also ensure that the materials will not harm the quilt.

You have spent considerable amount of time creating your unique design. Do not ruin it with carelessness. Plan ahead and think of the most appropriate place where you can have it on display. If you are not so sure, feel free to ask your closest friend for an opinion. If he or she is a quilt lover himself, then he should have some good inputs.
